No sleep for the weary....

So, I'm not quite sure who stole by perfect baby and replaced her with the one who forgot how to sleep through the night? It started slowly last Monday. I had a small glass of Diet Coke (my first in over a year...I have not started drinking caffeine yet.) That night Haley had me up twice and I chalked it up to the caffeine and said I would have to continue to stay away from it. Then she had her 4 month immunizations on Wednesday and both that night and the next she had us up a few time during the night. But then Friday hit and we were up 5 or 6 times and one time for 2 hours. And the only difference last night (Saturday) was that we were up the same amount of times but thankfully none were for 2 hours. She does not seem interested in nursing, but rather somehow is waking her self up and she cannot go back to sleep on her own. The only way we can get her to sleep (& it has been this way for months) is for her to fall asleep in our arms and then we can lay her down in her crib (a bad habit, I know.) One time when I went in last night thinking she was awake by the amount of noise that was coming out of her room, she was still sleeping but was fussing and violently thrashing only to awaken a few minutes later after I returned to bed since she was still asleep.

So, if you have seen my baby that I bragged slept through the night, please return her ASAP as Steve and I are walking zombies!

p.s. If you have any advice, please, please do share. And crying-it-out is not an option as I cannot handle seeing how upset she gets.

4 Months Old

Haley had her 4 month immunizations yesterday. They went better than her 2 month immunizations. She cried a bit and was a bit fussy in the afternoon, but seemed to be feeling back to normal last night!

Her stats at 4 months:

Length: 25 inches (63.5 cm) (75th percentile)
Weight: 14 lbs., 11 oz. (65th percentile)
Head Circumference: 15.85 inches (40.25 cm) (25th percentile)

I guess she has Great Grandma Hetherington's smaller head as large heads run in my side of the family.

Haley's Top 10 List:

1. Is able to grab toys and bring them to her mouth (see video below)
2. Has found her voice and loves to use it
3. Holds her head up quite well when being carried, in her Bumbo chair, and Jumparoo
4. Loves to "practice" her sitting and standing (a.k.a. big girl skills)
5. Still not the biggest fan of tummy time
6. Takes 3-4 naps a day but is probably working on giving up nap #4
7. Sleeps through the night (90% of the time) and on average sleeps 8-9 hours
8. Loves to blow bubbles with her spit
9. Drools constsantly and has to wear a bib at all times
10. Still loves to kick

The top picture is from Julia's wedding and is of our entire side of the family! I thought it was a great photo!

Pittsburgh & Virginia Tech

Ok, I have been delinquent in posting but we were in Pittsburgh visiting Steve's family from May 8 - 18th! We had a great 11 day trip! The first weekend Tom & Sue hosted a little party so that all their friends & family could meet Haley and watch the Penguins in the NHL Playoffs. (Go Pens!) About 15 people came and it was great to see everyone! Sunday was Mother's Day and Steve bought both Sue & I each a beauitful bouquet of flowers and we had Panera bagels and mimosas for breakfast. It was SO good! That evening Steve's grandparents came over for a delicious Mother's Day dinner of lasagna & salad & an awesome almond torte (which I had for bfast and dessert daily for the next 3 days!)

Tuesday Steve & I had our "first date" since Haley was born. Sue & Tom watched Haley and we enjoyed a great dinner at Atria's! It was so nice to have some alone time and relax sans baby!

Thursday morning we headed out for Blacksburg, Virgina for Nolan's graduation from Virginia Tech. We left after Haley's first feeding and she slept for about 2.5 hours, we stopped so she could eat, and then she slept another 2 hours or so until we arrived! I was so surprised at how well behaved she was! I had worried and worried and worried about how she would react to such a long car ride, sleeping in a hotel, and pretty much being off her schedule. Surprisingly she did very well! She napped some in the hotel, some in the car, and some at Uncle Nolan's apartment (we brought the Pack & Play) over the couple days. She was really good in all the restaurants except for the final night where she had a complete meltdown in the parking lot while Sue was walking with her. I felt so bad that Sue had to endure it but she was able to get her calmed down and actually sleeping! =) Over the few days we walked around the beautiful Virgina Tech campus, enjoyed some great food, and were very proud of Nolan graduating! Good luck to Nolan in his new job as an Environmental Engineer for the Department of Defense!

Sunday we headed back to Pittsburgh and Haley again was very well behaved and took two really long naps in the car! And Monday we headed back to Calgary! Again, she was really good on the plane and I realized I had done all that worrying for nothing!

Overall, it was a great trip and so nice to see everyone!

Haley enjoyed some dancing to Sue's singing!

Chillin'

Haley, Mr. Giraffe, & Steve relaxing

Sorry that I have been so busy that I haven't had time to post lately! But I'm not quite sure what I have been doing? Saturday I did get my hair cut and then I had a facial (thanks to the gift card my wonderful hubby gave me!) It was so nice to relax and enjoy some spa time! I do love the spa....

Haley is doing great! She is really enjoying sitting up (assisted) and standing (assisted) and her back & neck muscles are getting so strong. She is full of giggles and smiles that melt our hearts! The past couple days she has had some extreme crying bouts and even refused to nurse a couple times. This has never happened before. Usually if she is really upset, nursing will calm her down. Being a paranoid new mother I took her to the doctor this morning and he confirmed that nothing was wrong with her (ears, fever, etc.) He did order a urine sample to check for a urinary tract infection (which are common in little girls, I guess?) and imagine how fun it was collecting that sample. He did say that she has a ridge on her left gums (which is a sign of teething) but that it was a bit early (but not out of the question) for her to be teething. She has been drooling up a storm lately and now wears a bib all the time. I guess only time will tell if she is teething. She did have a better day today!

Haley's eyes are still really blue
