10 Months

Climbing up the stairs

And she is off

And the fun at the top of the stairs

New bathtub seat

Today Haley is 10 months old! Here are 10 things about Haley:
  1. Crawls everywhere
  2. Loves the stairs (see pictures above)
  3. Gets excited when the garage door opens each night because that means Daddy is home
  4. Babbles and makes silly noises all day
  5. Loves Cheerios but is not so sure about other finger foods
  6. Is a good eater generally of "baby" foods
  7. Weighs about 20 lbs and wears 12 month clothing
  8. Pulls herself up on everything (see picture above)
  9. Loves bath time (again, see picture above)
  10. Misses going outside as it is often too cold

Yesterday was an Earned Day Off (EDO, bogus excuse for extra days off at Imperial Oil) so one of our friends hosted a Turkey Fry. For those of you who have never had a fried turkey, you are missing out. They are so moist, juicy and delicious and nothing like KFC. Melissa & Charlie have a black lab and a black labradoodle. Haley had fun with the dogs as can be seen below!

Pittsburgh

We travelled to Pittsburgh last week to visit Steve's family and attend a friend's wedding! We had a great time! It was so nice to have a change of scenery and to have Steve around all day! We had lots of visitors from both Great Grandma's (GG's for short), Matt Schaal (the groom), a visit at GG Swick's house, and lunch out with Aunt Sue. The weather was so great (60's - low 70's) that we went for walks and enjoyed the outdoors a lot!

Saturday night was Matt & Katie's wedding which was held at the University Club by the University of Pittsburgh campus. It was a fantastic building with a beautiful ballroom! The wedding was beautiful, the food was good, the drinks refreshing, and the dancing fun! Steve enjoyed catching up with some old friends too! Haley stayed back at the Holiday Inn (a few block away) with Grandma Sue & Grandpa Tom. I had to nurse her twice so it was quite convenient to be a few block away!

It was great to see everyone!

Tag!!!

I just got tagged by my sister-in-law Jamie. Here's the deal with this tag: share five things you're obsessed with and then pass the award on to the five most fabulous blogs you know. Here I go:

1. Food: For as long as I can remember I have always liked to eat! Each morning I mentally plan what I am going to eat that day. I am always thinking about eating and would love nothing more than to eat my favorites all the time. I LOVE both sweets and saltys and my favorite type of food is Mexican. My mouth waters at the thought of Pappasitos chips & queso, beef fajitas and a margarita. I love to scout out the menu ahead of patronizing a restaurant and typically have my order already memorized. Honestly, I think it would be so much fun to have to gain 30 pounds for some big movie roll but I would not want to have to then lose it. But then again, if I was making millions I would have a personal trainer and personal chef!

2. Internet: For the past 2 years or so I have been obsessed with the Internet. I think this obsession began with Facebook and continued from there. I frequently check my email (& since the laptop is in the kitchen area I usually will check it if I hear the email 'ding'.) I also check Facebook several times a day and LOVE to see what my "friends" are up to or what pictures they have posted. I will admit I am a bit nosey. Other Internet related things I love are: my friend's blogs, Ken Hoffman's column, Dear Abby, and drudge.com.

3. Reality TV: Yes, there are some shows I love and others I could never get into. My favorites are: American Idol, The Bachelor & The Bachelorette, Big Brother, and The Hills. Yes, admitting to watching The Hills is a bit embarrassing but there is just something about that show that has me hooked. Perhaps it is how little the "stars" actually do to contribute to society. I have never gotten into many of the other popular shows like Survivor, The Amazing Race, or Dancing With The Stars. Guess they were not scandalous enough for me....

4. Sleep: This obsession started this past Sunday when Haley decided that 4 a.m. was a great time for her day to start. I disagree. Until Sunday she was sleeping until 6 or 6:30 so with daylight saving I figured I would be up at 5 to 5:30, but never 4. Not fun and I'm always looking for suggestions from any of the readers out there on how to get her to sleep later.

5. Weaning: For the past month, the idea of weaning as consumed my thoughts (after I have planned my food consumption for the day, of course!). I think I am so obsessed with it as Haley has never really taken a bottle and I am ready to have a bit more freedom. She is down to 4 nursing sessions a day which is really good, but I'm starting to think about weaning her. I guess I'm so nervous about it because of her distaste for bottles and I'm worried that she will not take to the sippy cup either (although she does drink a few ounces of water a day from one.) Again, I'm happily accepting any advice or suggestions from anyone on this topic...

So here are 5 amazing women I am tagging:
Eileen (friend from graduate school)

Laura (friend from University)
Summer (friend from high school)
Heather (friend from ExxonMobil)
Christy (friend from University)
